How long does a window job take?+
Most whole-home jobs run one to two days. We give you a real timeline at the consultation, not a guess.
How much do replacement windows cost?+
It comes down to how many windows, which line, and the glass package — so we don't quote over the phone. The free in-home consultation is where you get a real, written number. The drivers: the number of openings, the line (Soft-Lite is our primary, with ProVia, Sierra Pacific, and Pella), the glass package you pick, and whether an opening takes a full-frame replacement or a simpler insert. We measure every one, show you what fits your home and budget, and price it off your actual house — not a menu.
Will the same crew be on my whole job?+
Yes. We send the same crews job after job — low turnover, same faces from day one to handoff. We're not picking a name out of a hat and sending a stranger to your house.
How do I compare window companies before I sign?+
Get three estimates and ask all of them the same seven questions: who actually installs, what the warranty covers and what a service call costs, made-to-order or stock, whether the quote is itemized and how long it holds, what they're licensed for, who answers the phone in year three, and the APR alongside the cash price. We wrote the whole checklist out — including our own answers — so you can take it to the other two.
What brands do you install?+
Soft-Lite is our primary line (Elements and Classic Plus), plus ProVia, Sierra Pacific, and Pella — depending on what fits your home and budget.
What actually makes a window energy-efficient?+
Three things working together: a Low-E glass coating, argon gas sealed between the panes, and a warm-edge spacer that stops heat escaping at the glass edge. We also foam-fill the frame (Comfort-Foam R5 on Soft-Lite) where cheaper windows leave hollow air.
What's "air infiltration," and why does it matter?+
Air infiltration is how much air leaks straight through the window. The industry standard (AAMA) allows .30 CFM; the Soft-Lite Elements line tests at .01 — about 30 times tighter — and Classic Plus tests at .08, still roughly four times tighter than the standard. Less leak means lower bills and fewer drafts.
How low do the U-factors go?+
As low as 0.17 on ProVia Endure. U-factor measures heat loss — the lower the number, the better the window holds your heat in winter and out in summer. We'll show you the rating on the exact glass package you're considering.
What warranty comes with the windows?+
Manufacturer product warranties run 20-year to lifetime depending on the line, plus 5-year Excel labor on every window we install. No service-fee gate when you call us out under warranty. The specifics are written into your contract.
Are your windows Energy Star?+
Some — it depends on the glass package you choose. Energy Star isn't a blanket claim across every window. We'll tell you which configurations qualify before you sign.
